Mission
Seeing health as a human right, IAHA fosters cross-sector collaboration and provides financial and technical support to establish sustainable Guatemala-based community health projects for underserved populations.

Vision
IAHA envisions a Guatemala where:

  • All people, regardless of socioeconomic background, have access to integrated, culturally- and linguistically-appropriate health care information and services that they both want and need.
  • Evidenced-based health care interventions are the norm, a culture of continual health care education is promoted and the next generation of practitioners are aware of and equipped to address the public health challenges facing their communities.
  • Women are empowered health care advocates, able to make informed health decisions for themselves, their families, and their communities.
  • The next generation is born free from disease and thrives during their first few critical years of life, having access to comprehensive preventative health care services.
  • The public and private sectors collaborate to ensure a healthier population.

Values
Health As A Human Right. We strive to promote human dignity, attention to the needs and rights of vulnerable groups, with an emphasis on ensuring that health care is accessible to all.

Respect. We respect individual and cultural values and honor the autonomy of the communities in which we work.

Inclusion. We recruit local staff and volunteers, building capacity and working closely with the community to ensure their needs, wants, and desires are fulfilled.

Collaboration. We strive to build innovative and effective partnerships with local NGOs, community leaders, elected officials, the Ministry of Health, foundations, and others to maximize impact, leverage limited resources, and avoid the duplication of services.

Transparency. Through on-going monitoring and evaluation of our work, we learn from our successes and failures, and remain committed to reporting in a clear, concise manner the impact and outcomes of our programmatic and administrative activities.
